We are pleased to introduce
a new course for 2012 aimed at
string enthusiasts of beginner and intermediate level. Your tutor will
provide quality music coaching coupled with enjoyment as you learn and
progress on your chosen instrument.We welcome both adults and children on this course and will provide a relaxed and friendly environment during your stay. Our excellent team of tutors will assist with instrumental technique and give advice on performance development. The course will allow you opportunities to play a popular and varied selection of music. It is our aim that students leave the course having gained an insight into performance skills and string technique. This will be an enjoyable course for all string players whatever your age. By the end of the course you will have learned a series of musical skills which you will be able to apply to your continued instrumental studies.
This is a rare opportunity to sharpen your playing skills. You will enjoy making music on the course and will produce exciting result by the end of the course.
A welcome meeting will begin at 10.00am on Monday 6th August and rehearsals will commence at 11.00am. A detailed schedule will be given on arrival at the course.

Kate Fawcett - String Tutor
Kate Fawcett enjoys a satisfyingly varied musical existence! Following a literature degree at Oxford, she undertook performance studies at Birmingham Conservatoire, graduating in 2001 and embarking on a freelance career. She fosters a particular interest in period instrument performance, appearing regularly throughout the country, as well as further afield, on violin, viola and viola d’amore with a variety of specialist ensembles including her own Musical and Amicable Society.She is an experienced orchestral and chamber musician on both modern and period instruments and also enjoys occasional forays away from the classical scene, highlights having included touring with Smokey Robinson. A committed educationalist, Kate has taught violin and viola from beginner level to advanced since 2001 and in 2007 was appointed to teach at Birmingham Conservatoire. She has been the upper strings specialist and a lead tutor for Worcestershire Early Music since 2008 and is currently coordinating the innovative Sparks project for the CBSO.
Last year she was invited to be a specialist tutor on the Musical Vehicle project in Croatia and to coach Baroque chamber music at the English Camerata Summer School. Kate also recently began training (at UWE Bristol) to become a Music Therapist.
